Art in COLOR exhibition (in progress) will be on display at the UT Tyler Art Gallery. Kindergarten is looking at Andy Warhol and will be designing a collaborative piece to display together at UT Tyler based on Warhol's work.
Scholars rotated through stations (some stations with familiar materials and then some stations with new materials) and had to figure out how to use the new material they had at their current station. The scholars really enjoyed it because they were able to be create and I had a lot of fun watching them problem solve each time they got to a new station.
For Valentine's Day our classes painted our fingernails! I absolutely loved this because it allowed me to sit down with each scholar who wanted their nails painted and have a fun, one on one conversation. They felt so special and I loved getting to know them more! Building relationships.. building trust!
In a moment of flexibility, we as a class joined together and designed and created costumes for the storybook parade for scholars who did not have a costume! It was so fun problem solving and collaborating!
This year (2020-2021) I introduced meditation as a part of my PE class! The scholars were unsure at first but by the end of the year they were pros!
We traced the letter of our first name with pieces of cut paper. This was a fun intro project and a good "baseline" test.
We look at artist Jeff Koons and discussed his giant balloon animals. Then I taught the scholars (and Coach Hazelbaker haha ) how to make their own!
We went outside and worked on drawing from observation. This is a newer skill to these young scholars. It was also a "baseline" test to see where they were when trying to draw a still life object.
I was asked to facilitate our fall festival pumpkin painting station. We had so much fun being creative and getting messy!
