Goal setting, to me, is very important. I always try to make sure I set S.M.A.R.T. goals. I do this is my personal and professional life. And even further I have goals for different sections of the main categories. For example, at home in my personal life, I have goals as a wife and a mother, along with fitness and health goals. Professionally, I have two sections I focus on in how I create goals for myself. I set goals for myself in my professional growth. Getting more certifications, building PD hours, deepening my content knowledge, doing observations, taking time to know and learn from other professionals, and keeping a Growth Mindset all fall in this category. In short, how can I better myself as an educator? The other area I set goals for myself, is as an educator and how I can better my students. Some of the ideas overlap such as, deepening content knowledge and observing other educators. In fact, all areas mentioned before all benefit my students. I also make it my mission to know each student individually. this goes back to my classroom culture. At the beginning of every year it is my personal goal to know each students name before the end of the week. That may sound small, but I struggling with that and I know how big of a deal it is when someone remembers your name, how important it can make someone feel. I want my students to know right away I care. This is my first impression with my students and I take it very seriously. This is an example of a goal I set for myself that betters my students.
Below, I have my personal goals I have set and how I plan on achieving that goal. You can actually see evidence throughout my online portfolio that I have either achieved or am working towards achieving these goals.
